If the buzz in the industry is to be believed, Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff has been roped in for Superstar Rajinikanth's Jailer. He is the latest addition to the team after a series of high profile names from the south, which includes Kannada Superstar Shiva Rajkumar, Malayalam Superstar Mohanlal and Telugu star Sunil. The shoot for Jailer is currently happening in Jodhpur and it is said that Jackie Shroff has joined the sets. A video of the actor walking out of the set has been doing the rounds on social media. However, the team is yet to make an official announcement. If the news is confirmed, the Jailer team has indeed pulled off a casting coup.

Rajinikanth and Jackie Shroff had earlier worked together in the 1987 Hindi film, Uttar Dakshin. The film, which was directed by Prabhat Khanna, was later remade in Tamil as Chella Pillai. They are reuniting after a span of 36 years. Jackie Shroff was last seen as the prime antagonist in Vijay's Bigil, which was helmed by Jawan director Atlee. Jackie Shroff has also worked in films like Aaranya Kaandam and Maayavan. Interestingly, the buzz was strong that after roping big names from the south, the team would rope in a Bollywood actor, too.

The shoot for the majority of the portions have already been wrapped up. With pan-India stars on board, the film is all set to release on a grand scale. The rest of the star cast includes Tamanaah, Yogi Babu, Vinayakan, Ramya Krishnan, Vasanth Ravi and Redin Kingsley. Anirudh Ravichander has scored the music, marking his third collaboration with the Superstar after Petta and Darbar. While the cinematography is handled by Vijay Kartik Kannan, editing is by R Nirmal. The film is bankrolled by Sun Pictures. A lot is riding on the film after Rajinikanth's Annaththe and Nelson Dilipkumar's Beast didn't open to great reviews.
