The much-awaited Jailer is all set to drop in theatres worldwide tomorrow (August 9) and excitement among fans have reached a feverish peak. Meanwhile, the man of the moment, Superstar Rajinikanth is headed to the Himalayas. While speaking at the Chennai airport before the departure, Rajinikanth said, "I am going to the Himalayas after a long hiatus of four years. I couldn't go due to the pandemic."

When asked about how Jailer has shaped up and his experience working in the film, Rajinikanth said, "It won't be good if I say that. You watch the film and share your thoughts."

The film, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, features an ensemble cast including Rajinikanth, Shiva Rajkumar, Mohanlal, Jackie Shroff, Sunil, Ramya Krishnan, Tamannaah, Vasanth Ravi and Vinayakan to name a few.

The advance booking in overseas territories has been quite impressive, with the US box office taking the lead. The collection there is expected to cross 1 million dollars before the release.  Jailer is touted to take the biggest opening for an Indian film in the US in 2023, surpassing Kamal Haasan's action entertainer Vikram.
Rajinikanth will be playing jailer Muthuvel Pandian and going by the showcase, it looks like his character has his own quirks and once he gets on to business, there's just no stopping him. The film marks the debut of Shiva Rajkumar in Tamil cinema .

Jackie Shroff and Ramya Krishnan, too, are making a comeback in a Rajinikanth film after a long hiatus. While Jackie Shroff last worked with him in Uttar Dakshin (1987), Ramya Krishnan was last seen opposite him in Padayappa (1999). However, she made a cameo as her iconic character Neelambari in Rajinikanth's Baba (2002).

Music for Jailer is by Anirudh Ravichander, marking his third collaboration with the Superstar after Petta and Darbar. While the cinematography is by Vijay Kartik Kannan, editing is by R Nirmal. The film is bankrolled by Sun Pictures.
