Ever since its premiere recently, Jalsa has been on the receiving end of praises for its gripping story and stellar performances. Among its cast, one star in particular has caught fans’ eyes, actor Surya Kasibhatla. Even though the child actor shares the screen with seasoned stars such as Vidya Balan and Shefali Shah, his performance as Balan’s son Ayush, suffering from cerebral palsy, wasn’t missed and is being widely appreciated.
The makers recently shared a BTS video, featuring the young actor, who has cerebral palsy in real life. Referring to him as the ‘heart of Jalsa’, the video features his co-stars and director Suresh Triveni talking about working with him on the film. Triveni talked about how convincing the actor’s first audition had been, and how he was determined to do his scenes as best as he could, even asking for retakes at times.
Calling Kasibhatla a person ‘who can light up every room’ he enters, Balan said that she was awed at how well the young star essayed his role despite it being his first acting role. Shah too was all praise for her young co-star, talking about how ‘natural’ he was in front of the camera, and also appreciating the makers for their inclusivity in casting an actor who had cerebral palsy. At the end of the video, Kasibhatla also talks about his experience working on the movie, calling it a fun experience.
