Janhvi Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao to team up for Gunjan Saxena director’s next

Janhvi Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao are about to collaborate with Sharan Sharma, who made his directorial debut with Janhvi-starrer biopic Gunjan Saxena, reported Pinkvilla. The 2020 movie had opened to rave reviews and was a milestone in the actress’s career. 

The upcoming project is reportedly set against the backdrop of cricket and will be produced by Karan Johar. The movie is yet to be titled and it is currently in the pre-production stage. A source close to the team revealed that Rajkummar and Janhvi will be seen as cricketers and that they will begin their training for the sport later this year. The source also said that the film will be a fictional tale loaded with emotions and feel-good elements. It is interesting to note that the film also marks the reunion of Raj and Janhvi after Roohi, the recently released horror-comedy. 

Janhvi Kapoor, who made her acting debut with the 2018 romantic drama Dhadak, received appreciation for her performances in movies like Netflix anthology Ghost Stories and in the biopic Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl. The latter had her playing Indian Air Force Pilot Gunjan Saxena, who was one of the few Indian female pilots the country had two decades ago. Before beginning Sharan’s next, she is expected to wrap up shooting for Helen, which is being produced by her father, Boney Kapoor. She will also be seen in Dostana 2.

Meanwhile, Rajkummar Rao who made his debut through Love Sex Aur Dhoka, went on on to feature in successful films like Queen, Kai Po Che, Bareilly Ki Barfi and The White Tiger. He is the recipient of several awards including three Filmfare Awards and a National Film Award. His much anticipated upcoming movie is the Netflix original Monica, O My Darling.
