Param Sundari features Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor as the fresh pair. Directed by Tushar Jalota, the film is all set to hit theaters on August 29, 2025. In the trailer, teaser, and music videos, Janhvi's accent has been facing backlash as she is playing a half-Tamilian and half-Malayali character. In a new interview, Janhvi explained that her character in the romantic comedy is of mixed heritage.

Speaking to ET Digital, Janhvi Kapoor said that her character in the romantic comedy is of mixed heritage.
Although she did not directly react to the accent backlash, the actress added, "Finally, here was a story that had all of that, but also gave me the chance to go towards my roots. Of course, I'm not a Malayali, and neither was my mother, but my character is actually half-Tamilian and half-Malayali. I've always been very interested in that terrain and that culture, and I'm also a huge fan of Malayalam cinema. So yeah, I think it was just a very fun, interesting story, and I'm so happy and grateful that I could be a part of it."

During the Delhi promotions of Param Sundari, Sidharth Malhotra praised Janhvi Kapoor's dedication to Param Sundari. Sharing his working experience with Janhvi, Sidharth said that his time working with Janhvi and her work ethic is something he absolutely loves, especially in a genre like this.
"More than just relying on the script, she brings instinct to her performance, reacts in the moment, and creates that magic every actor looks for. And Janhvi has that instinct in abundance," he said.
Recalling one of his favourite scenes of Janhvi in Param Sundari, Sidharth added, “One of my most favourite scenes of hers is when she channels her inner Malayalam force and schools us North Indian boys about the different languages in our country."
