It looks like there will be a three-way clash at the box office this Diwali. Karthi's Japan, Karthik Subbaraj's Jigarthanda Double X and Vikram Prabhu's Raid are all set to clash at the box office on the occasion. Though the contest was only between Japan and Jigarthanda Double X earlier, Raid has now joined the race. Here's a quick look at the Diwali releases.

Japan

Japan marks Karthi's debut venture with Joker director Raju Murugan. The star cast comprises Anu Emmanuel, Jithan Ramesh, Sunil, Vijay Milton, Vagai Chandrasekhar and Bava Chelladurai. Karthi is said to be playing Tiruvarur Murugan, who was the brain behind a series of jewellery thefts in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Music for Japan is by GV Prakash Kumar, cinematography by Ravi Varman and editing by Philomin Raj. Japan marks Karthi's 25th project and hence the audio launch of the film is being planned in a grand manner.

Jigarthanda Double X

SJ Suryah and Raghava Lawrence play the lead in the film, directed by Karthik Subbaraj. Just like its predecessor Jigarthanda, this one, too, revolves around a filmmaker and a gangster-turned-actor. The film also stars Nimisha Sajayan, Shine Tom Chacko, Ilavarasu, Sathyan, Bava Chelladurai and Sathyan. Santhosh Narayanan has scored the music. While the cinematography is by Tirru, editing is by Shafique Mohamed Ali. Jigarthanda Double X is bankrolled by Stone Bench Films.

Raid

Vikram Prabhu and Sri Divya's action entertainer is also lined up for a Diwali release. The film is helmed by debutant Karthi and is said to be a remake of the super hit Kannada film, Tagaru, which had Shiva Rajkumar and Dhananjaya in the lead. The film marks the sophomore project of the lead pair after their last appearance in Vellaikara Durai (2014). Music for the film is by Sam CS, cinematography by Kathiravan and editing is by Manimaran.
