Jawan: Vijay Sethupathi opens up on working with Shah Rukh Khan, his character in Atlee film

Vijay Sethupathi is quite upbeat about landing an opportunity to work with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan. Describing him as a "humble person," Sethupathi said he didn't have to think twice when director Atlee offered him to the film to share the screen space with SRK. 

"Yes, I do, It is the antagonist's role. I've known Atlee for a long time. But, I've never worked with him until now. When he offered me Jawan I immediately said yes to working with Shah Rukh Khan. He's such a down-to-earth, humble and helpful actor. No attitude at all. Always friendly and helpful," Vijay Sethupathi told Times of India.

Sethupathi said he got to learn a lot from working with SRK and he also confirmed that he's playing the main antagonist in the movie. 

While Sethupathi is a household name in the south, he's also gaining a lot of popularity among audiences across North Indian states. He earlier made a splash with his role as the top cop in the Amazon Prime Video series Farzi. Written and directed by Raj and DK, the show had Shahid Kapoor in the lead role. The eight-episode was a major critical hit and Sethupathi garnered praise for his performance as a complicated cop. Sethupathi as Michael Vedanayagam, the head of a special task force, is morally flexible and often breaks the law for his own amusement but willing to make great sacrifices in the line of duty. 

And with Jawan, Sethupathi is set to further cement his popularity with Hindi audiences. "This film is a very large scale, and there are many firsts. It was amazing to see Shah Rukh and Vijay Sethupathi standing together and talking to each other, in between the scenes. And the way they were working. Shah Rukh Khan is a global star and Vijay Sethupathi was such an incredible powerhouse performer," said Ridhi Dogra earlier . She has also played a supporting role in Jawan.

Jawan is director Atlee's debut in Hindi. However, it will also be released in Tamil and Telugu. Besides Shah Rukh Khan and Sethupathi, the movie also stars Nayanthara and Sanya Malhotra among others. 

Jawan was earlier due in cinemas in June. But, the producers postponed the release to September 7 citing production reasons.
