The granddaughter of Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan, Navya Naveli Nanda, just launched her own podcast, What The Hell Navya. Navya's mother Shweta Bachchan and her grandmother Jaya Bachchan joined her once more in the podcast's last episode. The three talked about what happens to women after marriage. To this, Jaya recalled how many criticised her for leaving the film industry to raise her children Shweta Nanda and Abhishek Bachchan.
When Navya Naveli Nanda discussed the sacrifices women must make for the sake of their families during the show, Jaya disagreed.
The veteran actress said,"“I don’t think sacrifice is the right word that I would use. I would say that you are putting somebody else’s requirements, emotions and thoughts before yours. It is not a sacrifice, I think when you do something from within you, it is not a sacrifice. You know you are an educated girl, you are a smart girl, why should you be saying sacrifice.”
Speaking of her personal experience as a mother, Jaya recalled that although everyone assumed that she had sacrificed her profession for her marriage and children when she stopped working, this was not the case. She was truly content with her roles as a wife and mother. She liked that role better than the repeating roles she was playing in movies, which she thought were boring. 'It was not a sacrifice at all.'
Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya got hitched on June 3, 1973, and their daughter Shweta was born to them in March 1974. In February 1976, their son Abhishek Bachchan was born. In recent months, Jaya and Shweta have joined Navya on her podcast where they have also been revealing details of their personal lives and relationships. Every week, a brand-new edition of the podcast is released.
