Malayalam superstar Mammootty shared the trailer of Antakshari and Mudhugauv filmmaker Vipin Das’ next Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hei on Wednesday and it promises to be an absolute laugh riot from start to finish, while also highlighting a relevant subject.

Captioned as the biopic of a million Indian women, the movie revolves around the life of its protagonist Jayabharathi, essayed by Darshana Rajendran, from his school years to the time she gets married to Basil Joseph’s character.

The latter seems to be a male chauvinist, who has been conditioned to not believe that women are equal to men in the society as well as in a relationship. Vipin had earlier told us that the film has “tried to cover all the challenges girls face – be it discrimination or other struggles – while growing up. Though it’s a realistic film that middle-class Indian women can instantly relate to, we have tried to present it as a satire.”

The movie, which is set in Kollam, has portions set during the pandemic. The movie also takes a look at the men in Jayabharathi’s life including her father, boyfriend, uncles and cousins and the challenges she faces because of them.

Apart from Basil and Darshana, Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hei also stars Aju Varghese, Azees Nedumangad, Sudheer Paravoor, Manju Pillai and Noby Marcose in pivotal roles. The film is co-written by Vipin and Nashid Mohammed Famy while Bablu Aju is its cinematographer and Ankit Menon, its music director.

The movie, which will hit theatres on October 28, will be Basil’s second outing as the central character after Palthu Janwar. Suraj Venjaramoodu and Ann Augustine’s Autorickshawkkarante Bharya and Aishwarya Lekshmi’s Kumari are the other two films that will hit theatres the same day.
