Prior to this, Siren, starring Jayam Ravi and Keerthy Suresh in lead roles, was slated to be released directly on a popular OTT platform.
Jayam Ravi in Siren
The makers of Tamil star Jayam Ravi’s latest film, Siren, have confirmed that the film will have a theatrical release. The cast of this movie has unveiled that Siren will hit the big screen on February 16.
Prior to this, the movie was slated to be released directly on a popular OTT platform. The movie's release on ZEE5's platform was scheduled for January 26, which also happens to be Republic Day.
On his social media post, the actor's fans expressed their excitement about the movie's theatrical release. Many people expressed their excitement for his performance, but some pointed out that Jayam Ravi's image on the poster resembled Vijay's character Michael Rayappan from Bigil.
The release of Siren was scheduled for December of last year. Even with well-known Tamil cinema stars, especially Jayam Ravi, playing the lead roles, there has been a delay in bringing the film to the big screen. It is unclear why Siren was never released in theatres at first, considering that even low-budget films were able to receive a limited theatrical run before streaming on digital space.
Jayam Ravi tweeted that the movie will be released in theatres in December, following the teaser's release last year.
The teaser suggested that Siren would be a tale of revenge. It shows Jayam Ravi as a former ambulance driver who was unfairly convicted. While incarcerated, he prepares to fight back against the people who mistreated him and stole 14 years of his life. And everything goes haywire as soon as he leaves jail. Keerthy Suresh plays a police officer in the movie and seems fixated on the question of whether Jayam Ravi is a villain or a hero.
Anthony Bhagyaraj has directed this film. The screenplay has been penned by the director himself. Samuthirakani, Anupama Parameswaran, Yogi Babu, and Tulasi are also playing prominent roles in Siren. The soundtracks for this movie have been composed by G V Prakash Kumar.
