Jayamma Panchayathi OTT release date: When and where to watch Suma Kanakala’s rural drama directed by Vijay Kumar Kalivarapu

Small-screen queen, host Suma Kanakala surprised everyone with her decision to return to films earlier this year. Her comeback film, Jayamma Panchayathi, was a rural drama written and directed by Vijay Kumar Kalivarapu and had music by RRR, Baahubali composer MM Keeravaani. The film that had a theatrical release on May 6 will now premiere on Amazon Prime Video on June 14.

Writer, actor Devi Prasad is cast as Suma’s on-screen husband in the film that also stars Dinesh Kumar, Shalini and Mayanand Thakur in key roles. Jayamma Panchayathi is produced by Balaga Prakash under Vennela Creations. The director Vijay Kumar Kalivarapu had shot to fame earlier with a series of award-winning short films, which convinced the makers to invest in his story.

The story of Jayamma Panchayathi revolves a series of incidents that the director witnessed during his formative years in Srikakulam. The film is about a middle-aged woman Jayamma, who fights out the village headmen in the village to fund the treatment of her husband, suffering from a heart ailment. How does she confront the battles in her life and village?

The film, set in Palakonda, opened to a modest response at the theatres while a select lot lavished praise on the filmmaker for his honest effort to showcase Srikakulam’s rustic ambience on the screen. Several big names including Ram Charan, Pawan Kalyan, SS Rajamouli, Nagarjuna, Nani and others came forward to promote its theatrical release.
