Jayathirtha wraps up shoot of period film Kaiva, starring Dhanveerrah & Megha Shetty

The shoot of Banaras & Bell Bottom director Jayathirtha's ambitious project Kaiva, a film set in the '80s, has been completed. The team, which was stationed in Bengaluru to wrap up a crucial portion of the film, recently addressed the media to announce that Kaiva's production phase was concluded on January 28th.

Young actor Dhanveerrah, who is currently only two films old, will play the titular role in Kaiva with popular TV and film actress Megha Shetty playing the female lead. The period film is centred on the Karaga Utsav with the title, reportedly, referring to Lord Kaivara Bheema - the makers unveiled the first look of the film a couple of months ago which reveals Dhanveerah's character's intense demeanour.

"The team has taken painstaking efforts to get the '80s retro look right and be it my costumes or the production design, everything is executed with precision. We shot for the film predominantly in Mysuru for about 50 days and each day has been memorable - I am glad that my third film, after Bazaar and By2Love, has solid content to offer and I do hope that the audience accepts the film once it is out," said Dhanveerrah in his recent interaction with a media outlet, post the wrap.

For director Jayathirtha Jayanna, who has previously tried his hand at a period setting in Bell Bottom, the toughest part of the Kaiva exercise is likely to be the recreation of the '80s Bengaluru and ensuring that the combination of production design, cinematography and post-production VFX lends the desired output.

"Shooting a retro film is always difficult because if you want to transport the audience to a particular time of the part, 1983 in our case, you have to create the ambience. Be it through the dialogues or the way characters speak, the look, the hairstyles, the cinematography, etc. - everything matters. Our job will be done if we can fill the film with that '80s mood," said Jayathirtha during his interaction.

Jayathirtha's most recent release is Banaras, starring debutant Zaid Khan and Sonal Monteiro. The filmmaker is slated to reunite with Rishab Shetty, Hariprriya, and others for Bell Bottom 2 but one awaits an official word about that project.
