Jayeshbhai Jordaar: Ranveer Singh talks about the process of trusting and working with a newcomer director

Ranveer Singh has worked with some of the biggest names in the Hindi film industry such as Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Zoya Akhtar, and Rohit Shetty just to name a few. The actor, who is now awaiting the release of his next with debutant director Divyang Thakkar, has opened up about the process of working with a first timer.

Talking to Pinkvilla, the actor said that director Aditya Chopra called him and told him about the movie calling it “unprecedented” and so he met with young, newbie director Thakkar for a narration.

Recalling it as a memorable narration, the actor said, “ I probably never felt like that during a narration where I'm laughing and crying. I was like, 'Okay, you really have something to say. You're so invested and passionate that it's infectious. This has to be done'."

He added that he felt that he must empower this new talent and extraordinary material and that the film is too powerful to not dive in right away.

Ranveer also mentioned about his next with filmmaker Karan Johar, titled Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. Also starring Alia Bhatt, the actor revealed that the movie is shaping up.

Written and directed by Divyang Thakkar, the comedy-drama will see Ranveer play a man who is fighting to protect his unborn child against the many faces of society. The trailer hints at a fun movie with equal doses of drama and comedy, and speaks about an important issue in our society.

Also starring Shalini Pandey, Boman Irani and Ratna Pathak Shah in pivotal roles, the movie will hit theatres on May 13.
