Jayeshbhai Jordaar: Ranveer Singh to play a Gujarati superhero in the YRF's comedy drama?

Jayeshbhai Jordaar is one of the most-awaited films of the year. The film, which celebrates 50 years of its production house, Yash Raj Films, is led by Ranveer Singh and Shalini Pandey. Directed by debutant Divyang Thakkar, the film also features Boman Irani, Ratna Pathak Shah and Deeksha Joshi in supporting roles.

Now, there is an interesting update about the film. The comedy-drama will reportedly have Ranveer Singh play the role of a superhero. According to Bollywood Hungama, Jayeshbhai Jordaar is a superhero film with some comedy of errors situations. A source told the portal that Ranveer plays the role of a feeble frail Gujarati man and much like the Malayalam movie, Minnal Murali, he receives super-hero powers overnight. "It is like the Malayalam blockbuster Minnal Murali in concept, but designed as a comedy,” the source added. 

The makers have also earlier announced that they are converting the character, Jayeshbhai into a comic book series. Aditya Chopra believes the comic can appeal to a large audience, not just the kids. The comic strip avatar of Jayeshbhai Jordaar will also be released on the day of its theatrical release on May 13. There are also reports that the film will be turned into a franchise if it receives a great response. The idea of the movie is not just to mark the celebrations of 50 years of YRF but also to bring the audience back to theatres after the pandemic.
