Jee Le Zaraa: Farhan Akhtar returns as director with Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, Alia Bhatt as leading ladies

As Dil Chahta Hai clocks 20 years of its release, Farhan Akhtar has announced his upcoming directorial. After exploring male friendship with the 2001 release, the filmmaker is bringing an all-female cast led by Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt. The film is titled, Jee Le Zaraa and is based on a road trip across India. The lead actors announced on their social media pages.

This will be the third road trip film by Excel after Dil Chahta Hai and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. The film is written by Zoya Akhtar, Farhan and Reema Kagti. Jee Le Zaraa is set to be a 2023 release and the makers have stated, "fasten your seatbelts, it’s about time the girls took the car out!"

The film marks the first outing of the three leading ladies of Bollywood and the return of Farhan as a director after more than a decade as his last directorial was Shah Rukh Khan starrer Don 2: The King is Back released in 2011.

For a very long time, fans have been asking Farhan and Zoya to make a movie on an all-girls trip and they are fulfilling the demands of the fans with an exciting and dream star cast.

The film celebrates the 20-year journey of Excel Entertainment which started in 2001 with Dil Chahta Hai. The production company change the face of the Indian Cinema and after two decades they are continuing with their plans of doing the same with Jee Le Zaraa. 

The title is derived from one of the songs from Talaash which was helmed by Reema and produced by Farhan and Ritesh Sidhawani under their home banner.
