The real box office figure of Chengiz is perhaps one of the biggest mysteries in the Bengali film industry. While the production house refused to release any official figures for the longest time, the speculation over the earning of the film went haywire on social media. While producer Rana Sarkar and a section of netizens termed it a moderate to low grosser, several other sources showed that the film was doing well at the box office. The film which features superstar Jeet, Susmita Chatterjee, Rohit Roy, and others in the lead was released during Eid. After more than a week, Jeet finally termed it as ‘superhit’.

On Tuesday, Jeet took to his social media and wrote, “Remembering Swami Vivekananda’s quote: “Like me or Hate me, both are in my favour, If you Like me I am in your heart, if you hate me I am in your mind”. Happy to share Chengiz is superhit. Thanks a lot to each of you.”

However, the actor did not write the total earning of Chengiz since its release. Returning to his claim, Rana Sarkar wrote, “Like me or hate me, Manabjamin is a hit.” Manabjomin is Srijato’s directorial debut which is produced by Rana. The film was a flop at the box office. His ‘self-deprecating’ sarcasm did not go down well with Jeet’s fans.

According to Bollywood Hungama reports, the Hindi dubbed version of Chengiz earned Rs 1.25 cr from the Hindi belt. Which is evidently impressive as a figure. According to sacnilk.com, the Bengali version earned around Rs 2.23. On the other hand, boxofficebusiness.in reported that the film earned a total of Rs 4.19 cr in the eight days since its release. This figure includes both Bengali and Hindi versions.
