Jeethu Joseph says he’s doing 3 back-to-back films in 2025, Drishyam 3 to go on floors soon? Exclusive
Director Jeethu Joseph has already completed shooting for Asif Ali’s Mirage and is next set to begin filming Biju Menon and Joju George’s Valathu Vashathe Kallan. His third project is with a superstar

It’s a jam-packed year for Malayalam filmmaker Jeethu Joseph, who had a rather quiet 2023 and 2024 with just one project each – Mohanlal's Neru and Basil Joseph’s Nunakkuzhi. However, this year, the filmmaker tells OTTplay that he is working on three films back-to-back, with the third being a much-anticipated movie.
Jeethu has already completed shooting the first of these – Asif Ali and Aparna Balamurali-starrer Mirage. The film, which has a story by Aparna R Tarakad and is co-written by Jeethu and Srinivas Abrol, wrapped up its shoot in March after a 48-day schedule. “We are currently busy with its dubbing and post-production,” Jeethu tells us.

The filmmaker will next begin work on Valathu Vashathe Kallan, which could see him return to the investigative thriller genre after a break. The poster of the film, which is scripted by Dinu Thomas Ealan, was unveiled on April 20 – with the tagline, ‘Confession of a broken soul’.
“It just so happened that this year, I had to do three films back-to-back. I couldn’t do many films last year because of a few personal commitments and these projects got delayed. This year, we got the artistes' dates also in such a way that I had to do these films one after the other,” explains the director.
Will the third project then be Drishyam 3? “I am still busy finalising a few details about the movie. So, it will be too soon to give any other update about it,” says Jeethu.

In that case, which is the third project that the filmmaker will be helming after he is done shooting Valathu Vashathe Kallan? “I will be doing the film with Fahadh Faasil after that,” he confirms. The movie was announced last year, and will be scripted by Santhi Mayadevi, who had previously associated with Jeethu in Neru and Drishyam 2.
Recently, there were also reports that the director was planning to resume the shoot of Mohanlal’s big-budget film Ram, which was stalled midway due to financial issues. On this, Jeethu says, “There have been attempts to revive the film, but again, it’s too soon to say concretely on what’s happening with the movie at this particular stage.”
