Jeetu Kamal and his wife allege police negligence in road rage

Jeetu Kamal’s wife actress Nabanita Das took to Facebook on Thursday to chronicle her ordeal while visiting her doctor. She came on a Facebook Live session and alleged that she received a murder and rape threat right in front of police at Nimta Police Station. This created a buzz in social media. The celebrity couple faced a road accident while going to Sodepur from Birati. Then the harassment they went through was disclosed on Facebook live. 

Nabanita said that after the accident the other car’s driver attacked their driver. Then they went to the police station to get justice, and the police misbehaved with them. The accused driver and his three friends attacked them on the premise of the police station and gave rape and murder threats. 

Netizens are condemning the incident. The accused driver Sibasish Das was arrested Thursday night. On Friday, his three friends were also arrested, one of whom is named Aditya Pramanik. Nabanita accused one police officer of harassment. The Assistant Police Commissioner of Barrackpore, Subir Roy, said that this ASI will also face a departmental inquiry. The four arrested persons were taken to Barrackpore Court. They were charged with cases of cursing, rash driving, and conspiracy. Subir Roy said that 'after Nabanita's complaint is filed, the investigation started. The OC of Nimta Police Station aptly handled the issue. The ASI Parsuram Bardolui, against whom Nabanita complained of misbehavior, will soon face a departmental inquiry.' 

Jeetu told the news media that Nabanita is not well after the incident. However, they are happy with the role of the police. Nabanita disclosed some video footage of the incident on Friday, where the accused driver's friend threatened to ‘kill’. 

According to Nabanita, they were going along Nimta Road on Thursday. Nabanita had donated blood just before that. A goods vehicle hit their car, and the altercation started there. Nabanita’s driver protested, and the vehicle’s driver tried to smash them. Then two sides went to the Nimta Police Station. There, the vehicle's driver and her friends harassed Nabanita's driver. Nabanita protested and got harassed as well. 

Nabanita cried on Facebook live and said that she was threatened right in front of the police. She was scared to leave the police station because they said that they would rape and murder her if she stepped out of the premise. 

Another case is filed against the driver and passengers of Jeetu's car for misbehavior and rampaging a car. The police said that both incidents will be investigated. However, the incident angered the netizens. They questioned if the police behave like this with a celebrity, what will happen to the common people.
