Horror franchise Scream VI’s vital performer Jenna Ortega has devastating news for global fans. The Wednesday actress will not be reprising her role in the highly awaited Scream VII. The shocking move comes a day after the abrupt firing of her castmate Melissa Barrera amid comments on the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.

Jenna Ortega not returning for the Scream sequel

Horror-gothic drama Wednesday fame, Jenna Ortega announced her critical decision due to Wednesday's shooting clash as she will be heading to Ireland for the sequel of Netflix's hit series. This decision was discussed months ago even before the SAG AFRA strike as per Deadline.

In a surprising turn of events, the 21-year-old actress allegedly told Scream studio about her exit. According to Hollywood Reporter's sources, Ortega revealed her intention to discontinue the seventh installment to the Spyglass studio a few months ago.

Who else is exited from the Scream VII cast?

Previously, Ortega's costar Melissa Barrera was fired amid the controversial messages on the Israel-Hamas war on social media. In an official statement, the production house cited the hate speech and the ongoing conflict. "Spyglass’ stance is unequivocally clear: We have zero tolerance for antisemitism or the incitement of hate in any form, including false references to genocide, ethnic cleansing, Holocaust distortion or anything that flagrantly crosses the line into hate speech," mentioned the statement.

Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega have earlier portrayed the role of sisters, Tara and Sam Carpenter, in the fifth and sixth installments of the film.

Directed by Christopher Landon, Scream VII is currently under development.

More details about the decision are yet to be announced.
