The sequel is currently in the works. Garner will reprise her role as Allison Torres and also produce the film.
Garner described Scott as a committed, intelligent and intuitive filmmaker who has built a collaborative space for storytellers along with Reed Hastings and Ted Sarandos. She went on to say how excited she was to collaborate with Netflix. Recounting her experience on Yes Day, she also said that it was very satisfying and creative for her and she is restless and eager to be on board for the sequel.
Scott Tuber, Head of Global Film, Netflix praised Garner’s acting skills, said that he was fortunate to collaborate with her again after Kingdom, 15 years ago. He went on to say that she is versatile in doing high-octane action, hearty comedies and also intense dramas. He added that her methodical, exacting approach to her work makes her an ‘extremely valuable partner and producer.’
The plot of Yes Day is drawn from a children’s book by Amy Krouse Rosenthal that made its debut in March on Netflix. The story is about a couple and parents to their kids, who usually say no, but in a break from the norm for one day, decide to say yes for once to the craziest requests of their kids. They accept the requests, however, subject to some ground rules and what follows is a wild day of unbridled adventure and loads of fun.
Yes Day was directed by Miguel Arteta and produced by Entertainment 360, Grey Matter and Garner. Edgar Ramirez and Jenna Ortega also starred in the film alongside Jennifer Garner. Upon its premiere on Netflix, it grabbed 62 million households within the first four weeks, rising to be Netflix’s biggest Kids & Family film to date.
Garner has two more upcoming Netflix films that are not a part of the multi-film project. The first film is The Adam Project, a sci-fi feature directed by Shawn Levy co-starring Ryan Reynolds, Zoe Saldana and Mark Ruffalo. The second film, Family Leave is a comedy drawn from the novel Bedtime for Mommy by the New York Times bestselling author Rosenthal.
