Shahid Kapoor’s next mega release Jersey's producers have tied up with Balaji Telefilms and Pen Marudhar for the pan-India theatrical release of the movie. The sports drama which was earlier decided to be released on Diwali, will now hit the big screens on December 31, 2021.

Featuring Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapur alongside Shahid, the movie is the remake of the Telugu blockbuster of the same time, starring Nani.

Talking to the press about the development of the release, producer Aman Gill said the team is all excited for the same. They think that there is no better partner than Balaji Telefilms and Pen Marudhar for the release of their sports drama. Adding to it, managing director Ekta Kapoor said that Jersey deserves a theatrical experience and they are happy they could bring it to the audiences.

Meanwhile, Jayantilal Gada Pen Marudhar also expressed their happiness in welcoming Jersey to their board. He thinks the content of the film is worthy to be showcased on the big screen. He also shared his joy and excitement for the collaboration with the team.

Helmed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, the movie’s plot is adapted from his own Telugu movie of the same name, which was released in 2019. The movie dealing with the life of a sports aspirant, was a commercial as well as critical success in Telugu. It won honours awards including two National Awards. The film was also screened at the International Indian Toronto Film Festival in 2020.
