Jersey: Ishaan Khatter says he's ‘filled with pride’ after watching brother Shahid Kapoor’s movie

After a lengthy delay, Shahid Kapoor's film Jersey finally hit theatres today. But before the film's public release, it was screened for the Hindi industry celebrities, including Shahid’s half-brother Ishaan Khatter.

Ishaan took to social media on Wednesday night and wrote a lengthy note praising his brother.

"As a brother, I am filled with pride, as an actor, with respect, and as a member of the audience, with adoration for my bhaijaan Shahid Kapoor. Thank you for sharing what you accomplished with this character. Mr. Gowtam Naidu Thank you for providing the emotional experience that I secretly crave as an audience (sic)."

Ishaan called watching the journey into the making of Jersey from the sidelines a “privilege.” He added that the movie is “that simple, humane and assured film that hits home in all the right places.”

He even lauded Mrunal Thakur’s performance who plays Vidya to Shahid’s Arjun and Pankaj Kapur who is seen as Coach Madhav Sharma.

Shahid portrays a cricketer in Jersey who revives his career in his late 30s. The original film was made in Telugu, with Nani in the lead. The drama went on to win the National Film Award for Best Telugu Feature Film and the National Film Award for Best Editing.

Ishaan made his acting debut in Majid Majidi's Beyond The Clouds and was then seen opposite Janvi Kapoor in Dhadak. He also appeared in Mira Nair's web series A Suitable Boy with Tabu.

His upcoming movie is Pippa in which he plays Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta. The movie also stars Mrunal, Priyanshu Painyuli, and Sone Razdan.
