Jersey song Baliye Re: Shahid Kapoor, Mrunal Thakur’s love story is set against a groovy tune

The makers of Shahid Kapoor’s Jersey unveiled the third song from the film’s soundtrack, titled Baliye Re, today.

The latest track comes on the heels of the release of the film’s first two songs, Mehram and Maiyya Mainu, which had garnered over twenty million views each.

The music video, which can be viewed on the official YouTube channel of Zee Music Company, opens with a scene from a cricket match. When it comes to Kapoor’s turn to bat, he is nowhere to be found. Although his absence is explained away by his friend as him taking a bathroom break, we see in actuality he is having a passionate moment with his beloved, played by Mrunal Thakur.

Throughout the rest of the song we see some more loving moments in the couple’s relationship, as Thakur shows her support during Kapoor’s games and the two share laughs and lighter moments together as well.

Baliye Re is sung by Sachet Tandon and Stebin Ben, and its lyrics are penned by Shailender Singh Sodhi, also known as Shellee. Jersey’s soundtrack is composed by Sachet-Parampara.

The sports drama is a Hindi remake of the 2019 Telugu film of the same name, which starred Nani in the lead. The film tells the story of a cricketer in his 30s, who decides to make a comeback in the sport fuelled by his desire to represent the Indian cricket team. The film is directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, who had also helmed the original.

Jersey will be released in theatres in India on December 31.
