Director K Vijaya Bhaskar, who helmed some of the finest entertainers over the previous decades like Malleswari, Nuvve Kavali, Manmadhudu, Nuvvu Naaku Nachav, is returning with a campus comedy that’ll launch his son Sree Kamal in the lead. Shivani Rajashekar plays the female lead in the film produced by Rama Krishna Gunturu, Anju Asrani under SRK Arts, Anju Asrani Kreations.

The film is gearing up for a theatrical release on August 18. Ahead of its release, the trailer was launched today. The story revolves around Kamal, a happy go lucky college going student who falls in love. When his girlfriend heads to the boys hostel to spend time with the protagonist, all hell breaks loose. Kamal’s life is further complicated when he realises the girl’s father is an influential man.

Jilebi is hilarious take on the various complications in the life of the couple with an ideal dose of humour, action and the commercial ingredients to pull crowds to theatres. Sree Kamal, the debutant, looks good and has an assured screen space and shares good on-screen chemistry with Shivani. Mani Sharma’s music promises to be an asset to the film as well.

Ankith Koyya, Sunny, Bumchick Babloo, Rajendra Prasad, Murli Sharma and Getup Srinu form the supporting cast. Satish Muthyala cranks the camera for the film edited by MR Varma. Multiple songs from the film including Hot Hot Ra, Aaku Paaku were launched in recent weeks via Mango Music. The teaser unveiled a month ago has gone past the 1 million mark on Youtube.

Masala was the last release of the director in 2013 and he’s making a comeback to direction exactly a decade later. Some of his other hits include Swayamvaram, Prema Kavali (that launched Aadi Saikumar). He’s had the credit of launching several talents like Ritesh Deshmukh, Genelia, Richa, Tharun, Aarthi Agarwal to the film industry. Will his son’s launch be equally successful? We’ll know soon.
