Lantrani will have three movies directed by three national award-winning directors.
Bringing back the streak of anthologies after a pause is ZEE5 with their latest anthology film, Lantrani. As 2024 now brings an entirely new roster for this year, ZEE5 is all set to open its slate with an anthology that houses big talents like Johnny Lever and Jitendra Kumar. The makers released an interesting teaser yesterday by inducing intrigue among the audience. Now they have released the trailer for the anthology on YouTube and their official Instagram handle. The trailer is an interesting gateway into this very interesting world.
Connected by a common thread, Lantrani will follow films that tackle various taboos in society. The anthology includes three films in the first volume. The three movies included in Lantrani Volume 1 are 'Dharna Mana Hai,' 'Hud Hud Dabang,' and 'Sanitized Samachar'. All three are independent movies with their respective unique voices.
As per the official synopsis, ‘Each film adeptly captures the absurd realities of the rural landscape in India. The stories are inspired by the different segments of small towns and rural worlds where people take absurd measures to survive.’ The trailer and teaser give us an idea of how power controls everything, and the anthology will also talk about the pandemic in one of the chapters. Johnny Lever, Jitendra Kumar, Jisshu Sengupta, and Nimisha Sajayan will be leading the three films.
Lantrani becomes even more exciting when we look at the lineup of filmmakers making the three aforementioned movies. All three National Award-winning directors have assembled under the leadership of Gullak. While Gurvinder Singh is directing Dharna Mana Hai, Nagarkirtan fame Kaushik Ganguly has helmed Hud Hud Dabang. Aamis fame Bhaskar Hazarika has directed Sanitized Samachar.
Lantrani will be released exclusively on ZEE5. The anthology is set to hit streaming on February 9, 2024. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more on this and everything else in the world of streaming and films.
