Jitendra Kumar on breaking stereotype with complex role in Bhagwat Chapter 1 - Raakshas: 'Was uncertain as to how I will pull it off'

Jitendra Kumar is popularly known for his heartwarming characters Jeetu Bhaiya from Kota Factory and Sachiv Ji from Panchayat. Both characters played by Jitendra resonated with audiences through their authentic and charming performances, which are further amplified by their real-life connection to the stories. Now, Jitendra is all set to step out of his comfort zone and play a complex character in ZEE5's (OTTplay Premium) upcoming crime thriller film, Bhagwat Chapter 1 - Raakshas. Ahead of the October 17 release, Jitendra opened up about the character and also praised his co-star Arshad Warsi.

Speaking to PTI, Jitendra Kumar opened up about his role as a college professor with secrets in the upcoming crime thriller Bhagwat Chapter One: Raakshas. He shared that he is excited to step out of his comfort zone and try the complex character.

He said, "I was very excited to step out of my comfort zone... I found the role quite challenging as I have never done anything like this before. I was uncertain as to how I will pull it off. But with each challenge there was a different level of excitement that I felt,." 

Jitendra also said that he wanted to do a crime-thriller and a character with so many different shades. The dynamic between our two characters (Jitendra Kumar's Sameer and Arshad Warsi's inspector Vishwas Bhagwat) and how their lives intertwine intrigued me," he said.

The actor said it was inspiring to work with Warsi and added that the way Arshad conducted himself on the set was really interesting. Calling him a 'chill' person, Jitendra said, "But every time he had a scene, he would transition seamlessly. The way he gets into his character smoothly was something I enjoyed observing and our set was very collaborative. We had many discussions over each scene... We always found a midpoint and took in everyone's ideas."
