It's been two years since Joker was released and created a huge impact on world cinema. The film features Joaquin Phoenix in the titular role aka Arthur Fleck and bagged the Academy Award in the Best Actor category. Fans have been wishing to have a sequel to the Todd Phillips directorial and now Joaquin has hinted about the same. During an interaction with Playlist, the actor had said that Joker could be explored further.

Joaquin stated, "This is an interesting guy. There are some things we could do with this guy and could (explore) further. But as to whether we actually will? I don't know."

Meanwhile, Todd had earlier told Variety that he was working on the script for the sequel and he had also suggested a follow-up story was discussed during the shoot of the 2019 film Joker.

Ahead of Joker's release, the filmmaker had said, "Well there was (a push for a sequel) even before Joker came out."

While he added that a movie does that kind of business and became beloved around the world, they even talked about the sequel.

Todd further said, "Joaquin and I had spoken about it anyway as far back as when we were shooting the movie."

Todd also revealed that he had pitched two more movies to DC and Warner Bros. on showing the darker side of the superheroes in the film. He revealed that one was Joker while the other two with different directors.

The filmmaker added, "But I don't want to name them, because then it'll become a thing and I'm pulling these directors into it when I've never even told them about it. It was just me telling Warner Bros. about it."

Meanwhile, Joker also stars Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz and Frances Conroy in supporting roles. The film was co-produced by Bradley Cooper and Emma Tillinger Koskoff along with Todd Philips.
