After several reports making the rounds, Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner have finally addressed the separation rumours. The couple has called it quits and released a joint statement. After four years of marital bliss and a seven-year courtship, Joe and Sophie have amicably decided to end their marriage. They took to their social media pages and released a joint statement regarding the same.

Joe and Sophie stated, "After four wonderful years of marriage, we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage. There are many speculative narratives as to why, but truly, this is a united decision, and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children."

Seperation timeline

Meanwhile, according to People, a source close to the pair said that Joe's filing for divorce yesterday was not a "surprise". In the first few hours following Jonas' filing, both People and Page Six obtained information from sources detailing the events leading up to and following the filing.

Their "entire summer apart," according to a source quoted in People, revealed that the couple was not separated but had been living separate lives for months. They haven't gotten along for a while, but they were hoping to resolve this all amicably.

Joe has sought shared parental responsibility for the couple's two young daughters. According to TMZ's sources, the singer would likely ask for significantly more than 50 percent physical custody.

A source with the People reported that custody arrangements have not been finalised. It's being worked out in real time because everything just happened, but they actually did have a prenuptial agreement. Joe and Sophie lived in Florida. The kids have been touring with him and his family for the past few months, while Sophie has been shooting in the UK.
