Jogi teaser: Diljit Dosanjh starrer depicts emotional journey of people during the 1984 Sikh riots

Diljit Dosanjh is gearing up to debut on Netflix with his forthcoming film, Jogi. The makers have unveiled a teaser of the Ali Abbas Zafar directorial today. The story, screenplay and dialogue of the emotional entertainer, which is based on the 1984 Sikh riots, are penned by Ali Abbas Zafar and Sukhmani Sadana. 

The latest teaser begins by flashing the timeline of the real event and place where it all began, that is, October 21, 1984 in New Delhi. Moving on it showcases, a family setup featuring the main characters including Diljit Dosanjh, Kumud Mishra and others. Later, a character explains to the lead actor about the violent situation taking place in the capital of the country and says, "The whole of Delhi is going to burn. Get all your family members. In these circumstances, Punjab will be the safest place for you people," to which Diljit replies, "They are all my family. I'm not abandoning them."

The teaser sets the scene in Delhi moments before the 1984 tragedy and the aftermath as Jogi fights for family, brotherhood and unity against all odds.

On Friday, Diljit shared the first look of the film with a poster on Instagram with a special caption that says, "Himmat da naam Jogi. Umeed da naam Jogi. Watch this gripping tale of bravery, friendship, hope and everything in between. Out on 16th September, only on Netflix! #Jogi #JogiOnNetflix (Sic)."

Backed by Himanshu Kishan Mehra and Ali Abbas Zafar, the music of the project is composed by Julius Packiam and Sameer Uddin.

Jogi, which also features Kumud Mishra, Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub, Hiten Tejwani, Amyra Dastur and Paresh Pahuja, is slated to priemeire on September 16.
