John Abraham, Fatima Sana Shaikh are PETA India’s Most Beautiful Vegetarians of 2022

In September 2022, PETA India had asked for votes for its Most Beautiful Vegetarians of 2022 awards. Nominees for women included Alia Bhatt, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Adah Sharma, Alaya F, Anushka Sharma, Ariana Grande, Athiya Shetty, Bhumi Pednekar, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Jacqueline Fernandez, Kajal Aggarwal, Kourtney Kardashian, Lilly Singh, Richa Chadha, Shraddha Kapoor, Sunny Leone, Vidya Balan and Parineeti Chopra. For men, they were Akshay Kumar, Kartik Aaryan, Shahid Kapoor, Siddhant Chaturvedi, John Abraham, Sonu Sood, Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kumble, Benedict Cumberbatch, Dhanush, Harry Styles, Jason Mraz, Lewis Hamilton, Pawan Kalyan, R Madhavan and Vidyut Jammwal, among others.

And now, the verdict is out. The winners of PETA India’s Most Beautiful Vegetarians of 2022 are John Abraham and Fatima Sana Shaikh.

This is not John's first PETA title. In 202, he was picked as PETA India Person of the Year winner. A vegetarian, John has advocated for animals in need, including teaming up with PETA India to successfully urge e-commerce website Quikr to stop permitting animal sales and urge e-ticketing platform BookMyShow to promote animal-free circuses only. The National Awards-winner is a guardian to two adopted dogs, Bailey and Sia.

Fatima has always been vocal about her passion for animals. Among the things that the Dangal, Thar and Thugs of Hindostan actress has openly spoken about is improving animal-care facilities in Mumbai. She also often shares pictures of the cats that she fosters with her over 3 million followers on Instagram.

Speaking about the awards, Sachin Bangera, PETA India's Vice President of Celebrity and Public Relations, said, “John Abraham and Fatima Sana Shaikh speak up for animals in need and use their star power to inspire their fans to do the same. PETA India is honouring them for showing the world how easy it is to make compassionate choices that protect animals, the environment and their own health.”

Past winners of the title, which until 2020 was called the Hottest Vegetarian Celebrity Award, include Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Akshay Kumar, Bhumi Pednekar, Shraddha Kapoor, Sonu Sood, Manushi Chhillar, Sunil Chhetri, Anushka Sharma, Kartik Aaryan, Vidyut Jammwal, Shahid Kapoor, Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan.

John Abraham will next be seen in the much-awaited Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Pathaan. Fatima Sana Shaikh's next is Sam Bahadur, in which she plays the late Indian Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi.
