John Abraham collaborated with Nikkhil Advani for their second collaboration, Vedaa, after working in Batla House. Vedaa released in theatres on Independence Day, alongside Akshay Kumar's Khel Khel Mein and Shraddha Kapoor-Rajkummar Rao's Stree 2. While Stree 2 has been breaking all records, Khel Khel Mein, as well as Vedaa, suffered an underwhelming Box Office. While Vedaa received acclaims, it did not gather the Box Office numbers as expected, at least so far. John Abraham has spoken on his views about it in a recent interview.
John Abraham told Radio City that a message in the film is more important than success or failure. "We've told it in an entertaining way, but there's no getting around the fact that the subject is heavy," he said, claiming that the audiences do not like watching films with heavy subjects. While he respects their choice, John also states that it is important to face the subject at the end of the day.
John Abraham states he is very proud to have made a good film while claiming that it is his and Nikkhil's best work together. He mentions that people regret when their movie doesn't work commercially, but that comes from uncertainty about the film. He praised the performance by the cast while also crediting the work of the crew from cinematography to action. He also recalled the criticism the film received for its screenplay, and said that he respects everybody's point of view.
Vedaa has currently minted Rs. 18.50 crores at the Box Office. The movie was released alongside Akshay Kumar's Khel Khel Mein, which has earned approximately Rs. 21 crores at the Box Office. However, Rajkummar Rao-Shraddha Kapoor's Stree 2 leads the race with an earning of Rs. 341 crores in India itself. Interestingly, the movie saw a cameo by Akshay Kumar, and he is expected to play the lead antagonist, Sarkata, in the Maddock Supernatural Universe.
