One of the most critically-acclaimed crime series ever made, the cult-classic The Wire, is best known for giving several Black American (and British) actors career defining roles, like, for instance, Idris Elba as Stringer Bell, Michael K Williams as Omar Little, Michael B Jordan as Wallace, Clarke Peters as Lester Freamon, Wendell Pierce as Bunk Moreland, and, Lance Reddick as police lieutenant Cedric Daniels.

Best known for The Wire, Fringe and Bosch, among others, Reddick was also a recurring character in Keanu Reeves’ actioner series John Wick. Reddick had been in the midst of promotional interviews for the forthcoming John Wick 4, in which he reprises his role as Charon, the concierge at The Continental, the hotel that world-class assassins hang out at, when he passed away of natural causes, aged only 60.

More recently seen in the seventh and final season of the police drama Bosch as well as the Resident Evil reboot, Reddick was tall and in such incredible physical shape that the makers of Bosch could have him strut around shirtless. He had an onscreen presence that was hard to miss, irrespective of the role he had. Incredibly, the actor’s last social media post from only a day ago, had him looking happy and healthy, along with his dogs.

Beside his now posthumous outing in John Wick 4, Reddick will be seen as Zeus in a TV adaptation of Percy Jackson. He is said to have shot for the Ana De Armas led John Wick spin-off Ballerina as well, where he played Charon yet again. The actor was also rumoured to be a part of yet another John Wick spin-off – a TV series called The Continental. He will be seen in the remake of White Men Can’t Jump.
