After House of Hammer, discovery+ is set to premiere Johnny vs. Amber: The US Trial. It is a two-part documentary that examines two opposed sides of one of the most well-known and widely covered court cases of the past ten years: the domestic violence allegations against Johnny Depp and Amber Heard and the ensuing libel suit Depp filed against News Group Newspapers Ltd. On Discovery+, the docu-series will start premiering on September 19, 2022.

It is described as the inner story of the trial that was streamed worldwide and viewed by millions of people on social media in Johnny vs. Amber: The US Trial's official synopsis.

The first of the two-part docuseries looks into Depp's side as his team publicly discloses his drug addiction and abusive upbringing. It also follows his attorneys as they get ready to cross-examine Amber Heard, offering a different version of the events that suggests Johnny was a victim of domestic abuse himself.

The series is intended to give a forensic description of the main facts and turning points of the case from both sides, letting viewers make up their own minds about who to believe. The documentary is said to have personal access to Johnny Depp's lawyers, legal experts, and journalists.

Depp is one of the most famous actors of all time, but his reputation was shattered when he lost a defamation lawsuit in London, where the judge ruled that the media could legitimately refer to him as a "wife beater." In an effort to clear his record, Johnny is suing his ex-wife, Heard, in US courts, putting everything on the line.

The series features behind-the-scenes footage and first-person testimonies of how the acrimonious court dispute develops thanks to close access to his legal staff. The challenges within the troubled and dysfunctional A-list marriage are shown in graphic detail.

The second episode, according to the synopsis, will examine Heard's testimony, including how supporters of Depp ruthlessly attacked her on social media and how she gave a full narrative of an alleged sexual assault for the first time on camera.

Heard's ex-husband, the legendary actor Johnny Depp, compelled her to appear in court. In an effort to establish that one of the most adored performers in the world was a violent and abusive spouse, this documentary examines Heard's version of the tumultuous marriage.

Heard stood up in front of a world audience and, for the first time, recounted in vivid detail serious charges of sexual assault. As the world watched, Heard was then demonised on social media. This episode explores the history of popular memes and the antagonistic woman who persisted in fighting.
