Joker 2 ft. Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga to be the only live-action DC movie to release in 2024 just like MCU’s Deadpool 3 – Details inside

After what felt like a tsunami of superhero content in the past two years, what could have guessed that the same phase might be a nightmare for the entire culture that is having a tough time keeping the fire on? Both the Marvel Cinematic Universe and The DCU are busy chalking plans that will rebuild the fan trust that has faded somewhere and the plans include the reshuffling of their calendar. As for James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU, they have an entire realm to establish. And now a new update about Joker: Folie à Deux aka Joker 2. 

Like how Deadpool 3 will be the only MCU movie to hit the big screens in 2024, the DCU is walking on the same path. As per the latest update from Direct, the year 2024 will be more of quality than quantity as even the DCU will have only one live-action release next year. Joker 2 will be the only live-action film to hit the theatres by James Gunn and Peter Safran’s kitty. 

A big reason for the same can be that the sequel to Joker is the only movie that is in the advanced stages of production and has wrapped up filming. The fact that the new era of DCU is still in a very early stage of development as James Gunn is now gearing up to go on sets of Superman: Legacy, the first live-action DCU movie under his reign, and the new timeline, in early 2024. Joker: Folie à Deux sits in the DC Elseworlds as per the timeline now.

Directed and written by Todd Philips, Joke 2 has Joaquin Phoenix reprise Arthur Fleck aka The Clown Prince Of Crime. But the highlight this time around is Harley Quinn and she is played by none other than the iconic Lady Gaga. The sequel is said to be a dark musical, Gaga’s presence with no music is anyways impossible. Meanwhile, Folie à Deux is a sequel to Joker which was a massive success both critically and at the Box Office.

Joaquin Phoenix even won an Oscar for his performance in the same. Meanwhile, a lot about the movie has been speculated. Several images from the sets have even given some hints, with the iconic stairs returning for the sequel and the announcement teaser hinting at the musical nature of the movie.
