The Wolf of Wall Street actor also co-wrote the script for the upcoming untitled movie
Popular Hollywood actors Jonah Hill and Eddie Murphy are teaming up for an untitled comedy film from Netflix, with Black-ish creator Kenya Barris attached to direct the same. Barris will also serve as producer for the film under his production banner Khalabo Ink Society.
Although details about the film’s plot and premise have not been let out as yet, the story is said to focus on family and contemporary love, interwoven with how the differences in cultures, expectations of society and generational gaps can take its toll on relationships, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Jonah Hill and Eddie will reportedly play conflicting characters as well.
The upcoming project will be Eddie Murphy’s newest collaboration with Kenya Barris, after the two worked on Coming 2 America, a sequel to the former’s hit 1980s rom com. Barris is perhaps best known as the creator of Black-ish, the critically-acclaimed American sitcom about an African-American family’s life. The project will also serve as his feature directorial debut.
With Murphy and Hill on board, the film features some of the most prolific talents Hollywood has to offer. Both actors have a lot in common, from being heralded for their comedic prowess and being nominated for the prestigious Academy Award; Murphy for his role in the musical drama Dreamgirls, and Hill twice for his performances in Moneyball and The Wolf of Wall Street to both having taken hiatus from acting at one point in their career . Jonah Hill has also produced and co-written the Netflix film’s script with Kenya Barris as well.
Hill will be seen next in the Netflix black comedy Don't Look Up, alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence.
