Director Gautham Vasudev Menon’s next directorial, Joshua Imai Pol Kaakha, is set to hit theatres on March 1 (Friday). The film, which has actor Varun of Bigg Boss-fame in the lead role, is a racy action drama and marks the filmmaker’s return to direction after the 2022 action-drama Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu, starring Silambarasan.

Joshua Imai Pol Kaakha is an action drama in which Varun plays the lead role as a hitman. The film will revolve around the protagonist, who, by circumstances, has to save a girl from the clutches of certain goons. Raahei plays the female lead in the film. The film is expected to feature some high-octane action sequences.
Release date
Directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, the film has been in the making for a while. While the film was delayed due to the pandemic, it is finally set to be released in theatres on March 1. Releasing at the same time are Bejoy Nambiar’s Por, starring Arjun Das and Kalidas Jayaram, and Kayal Anandhi’s Mangai.

Bigg Boss' Varun, who has appeared in films like Comali and Bogan, plays the titular role in Joshua Imai Pol Kaakha. He plays a hitman and this is his first collaboration with Gautham Vasudev Menon. Raahei plays the female lead and actor Krishna is the antagonist. Others in the cast include Yogi Babu, Dhivyadharshini, and Mansoor Ali Khan. Vels Film International banner is producing the film, with cinematography by SR Kathir ISC. Anthony and singer Karthik have edited and composed the music of the film, respectively.

Joshua Imai Pol Kaakha, like most of Gautham Menon’s films, is suitable for a universal audience. The film has received a U/A certificate from the censor board. The film is expected to be released on a streaming platform after its theatrical run. However, the makers have yet to disclose the platform.

Gautham Menon has been all praise for actor Varun for carrying out action sequences without any body double. While acknowledging that Joshua Imai Pol Kaakha is a film that is packed with action, he added that the film will also have romance and an emotional quotient as well. The film is also expected to be placed in the same universe as the director’s unreleased spy thriller, Dhruva Natchathiram.
