Varun Dhawan is neck-deep in the promotions of his upcoming release titled Jugjugg Jeeyo. The actor has been on a multi-city tour along with his co-star Kiara Advani. The film that also stars Anil Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor in the leads is touted to be a family entertainer and the cast is leaving no stones unturned to promote it.

During his recent interview with NDTV, Varun was asked about the reason why he ends up calling Dharma Productions' head honcho Karan Johar quite a few times every day. The actor revealed that he does so in order to get KJo's attention and to make him more involved in the lead-up to the release of his film. He shared that it's because of his own selfish interests as he knows that it'll ultimately benefit his upcoming release.

Varun, who made his Bollywood debut with Dharma Productions' Student of the Year, helmed by Karan Johar himself, shared that the filmmaker is more like family to him and equated his relationship with KJo to the bond he has with his parents.

Varun explained that since Karan's production house is producing so many films, it may not be possible for him to be equally involved in all the aspects of all the films. "So when I'm doing a film for him, I have to make sure he's actually involved for my own selfish benefit because then I know then the film will be best. I do those calls because I need him to be there when we are marketing the film, when we are shooting the film. So he knows how the money should be spent," Varun told NDTV during the interview.

He also went on to admit that he does create a little bit of nuisance for Karan Johar for which he also gets the shouting from KJo at times, but he takes all of it in his stride as he's quite "thick-skinned". "I have to irritate him a little bit for that. I don't mind him shouting at me or abusing me," Varun added.

For the unversed, Jugjugg Jeeyo marks Neetu Kapoor's comeback to Hindi films after a long hiatus. Directed by Raj Mehta, the film is all set to hit the theatres this Friday, June 24, 2022.
