The 52nd International Film Festival on India being held in Goa, India has reached its final stages. The festival, which is one of India’s most prestigious, screened the Palme d’Or winning horror thriller Titane.
The movie, which has been gathering great reviews and acclaim, was screened under the category of Film Kaleidoscope. Titane was screened at the first screen of the Panjim INOX at 9:15 PM.
The movie, which was watched by a packed crowd of delegates at screen 1, had its moments with the audience. From emotions of laughter to gasps, Titane was able to capture the attention of the audience almost immediately.
While a small number of delegates chose to walk out mid movie, the ones that stuck around till the end lauded the movie with rapturous applause.
Titane, which is directed by Julia Ducournau, tells an interesting, gory, and squeamish tale of Alexia, a woman who met with a car accident as a child and had to have a titanium plate fixed in her head.
The movie which won the Palme d’Or, the biggest prize at the prestigious Cannes International Film Festival, made Ducournau only the second female director to achieve this since Jane Campion, who won the top prize in 1993 with The Piano.
The International Film Festival of India, which flagged off with the musical The King of All the World on November 20 will conclude with the screening of Asgar Farhadi’s A Hero on November 28.
