Don your captain’s hat and get ready to set sail, Indian cinephiles. Disney’s Jungle Cruise is all set to hit theatres in the country this month.

When will Jungle Cruise be released in India?

The fantasy adventure film starring Dwayne Johnson will be released in Indian theatres on September 24 in English, Hindi, Telugu and Tamil, with audiences having the choice of enjoying the thrill ride in 3D as well.

What is Jungle Cruise based on?

The visual spectacle of a film has become one of the most expensive films ever made and is based on the popular Disney theme park attraction of the same name which takes guests across a 1930s themed steamboat ride on different river replicas. The movie tells the tale of a British scientist and her brother who enlist the help of a riverboat captain to travel across a jungle in search of a magical tree with life-giving properties.

Who are the director and lead actors of Jungle Cruise?

Produced by Walt Disney Pictures, Jungle Cruise stars Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, Édgar Ramírez and Jack Whitehall, among others. The film features Jaume Collet-Serra in the director’s chair who seems to have taken a breather from the horror and thriller films such as 2009’s Orphan and 2011’s Unknown that launched him into success.

Although the film’s release suffered a long delay due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the movie had witnessed a spectacular premiere at Disneyland itself with the cast and guests getting a chance to have a go at the rides that inspired the film. It had its theatrical run in the US back in July and had also been made available on the streaming platform Disney+ for American subscribers.
