Junior on OTT: Where to watch Kannada version of Kireeti Reddy and Sreeleela’s film

A few weeks after the theatrical release of Kireeti Reddy’s debut film Junior, there were reports galore about its OTT streaming rights and that Amazon Prime Video had acquired the film. However, as the days passed by, there was no news of the film on the platform and no amounts of online queries elicited a response.

Then, earlier this week, it was reported that the Telugu version of the Radhakrishna Reddy directed bilingual was headed to aha Telugu. It was thought that Prime Video was still in the reckoning for a wider OTT outing, but according to the latest, that is not the case.

Junior headed to NammaFlix on...

A little while ago, Kannada OTT channel NammaFlix announced that Junior would be on the platform starting September 30. The current arrangement of Telugu to aha and Kannada to NammaFlix is likely what will be the film’s eventual OTT journey. The Telugu version was reportedly set for September 22, but is now expected to be on September 30 as well.

Released in theatres on July 18, the Kannada version of Junior did not have a great outing, as it clashed with Yuva Rajkumar’s Ekka (which is yet to make it to OTT). The Telugu version, though, fared better, although in the overall scheme of things, the film failed to recover its budget. The silver lining, though was that even amid middling reports, there was overwhelming praise for Kireeti’s acting and dance skills.

The film revolved around Kireeti’s character Abhi, born to geriatric parents and brought up by a single dad (Ravichandran), who doted on the lad. For Abhi, though, his father’s helicopter parenting was overbearing, and he sought to distance himself as much as possible, once he got into college. When he later lands an internship with a tech major, Abhi finds out that the company’s MD, played by Genelia Deshmukh has a connection to his family.
