Junior teaser: Glimpse of debutant Kireeti’s launchpad is now out

Junior, the launchpad of Kireeti, the son of businessman and politico G Janardhan Reddy, went on floors more than three years ago and is finally set for its theatrical release. The film, directed by Radhakrishna Reddy (of Mayabazaar fame), pairs Kireeti with Sreeleela. It was initially announced as a Kannada-Telugu bilingual, but is, reportedly being released in 5 languages on July 18, 2025.

Ahead of the film’s theatrical outing, the team revealed a teaser which introduces audiences to the protagonist, a young carefree collegian, who is more interested in making memories on campus, than spending that time on studies. Sreeleela, on the other hand, is focused and ambitious, and not enamoured by Kireeti’s antics.

The film, an action-packed family entertainer, also stars Genelia Deshmukh and was meant to be her comeback vehicle, but in the time that Junior was delayed, she worked on Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par, which is currently in theatres. The actress is reportedly playing Kireeti’s sister in the film, while Crazy Star Ravichandran is his father.

The film’s technical crew includes Devi Sri Prasad as composer, Peter Hein for action, Senthil Kumar as cinematographer, and Niranjan Devaramane as editor. Like the title announcement teaser, this one too does what it’s been asked to – allows Kireeti to flex his muscles and show off his various skill sets.

with Junior, meanwhile, brings Sreeleela back to Kannada cinema, after 2022’s By Two Love. The actress has been busy with a bunch of Telugu projects and is also set to make her Bollywood debut shortly.

Kireeti is the latest addition to the list of politicians’ kids in cinema. Among the newer crop, there’s Nikhil Kumaraswamy, who has done a few film, as has Anup Revanna, the son of HM Revanna. Zaid Khan, the son of Zameer Ahmed Khan made his debut with Banaras and is, reportedly doing a film called Cult, with Sachin, the son of N Cheluvarayaswamy, last, but not the least.
