Junior, the launchpad of Kireeti Reddy, the son of politician and mining baron Janardhan Reddy, is finally coming to theatres, three years after it was first launched. Directed by Radhakrishna Reddy, who made Mayabazar 2016, the film is set to hit theatres on July 18, ahead of which the trailer was dropped. The team of Junior has not gone all out with promotions yet, and in one of his rare interviews, Kireeti had made it abundantly clear that he wanted to do a family entertainer as his debut film, one in which he could work with Crazy Star V Ravichandran.
Considering that Ravichandran has been playing father to much older actors, including Sudeep, the team of Junior found a work around, by having Kireeti’s character Abhi a late offspring for his older parents. Ravichandran and Sudharani fill in as the couple who face society’s ridicule for having a child at an advanced age, but they vow to give him the best life possible.
While Abhi finds good friends and love college, he also realizes that there are certain family ties that need mending, including his relationship with a business honcho played by Genelia Deshmukh. The film pairs Kireeti with Sreeleela, while Rao Ramesh, Achyuth Kumar, Kiran Srinivas, among others, have pivotal roles in the film.
The trailer of Junior was launched by SS Rajamouli. The film promises to be a mix of emotional father-son dynamics, romance, comedy and more. Radhakrishna, it seems, has tailored the film to allow Kireeti to showcase not only his dance and fight skills, but acting chops as well.

The film, meanwhile, is releasing in Karnataka in competition with Yuva Rajkumar’s Ekka, the trailer of which had dropped at the exact same time as that of Junior. Considering that Ekka is only getting a Kannada release, unlike Junior, Yuva and team have been on a publicity blitzkrieg. Kireeti and co are yet to get the publicity wagon going.
