Junior’s Viral Vayyari BTS video: Was Sreeleela uncomfortable doing certain steps in hit number?

Junior, the Kannada-Telugu bilingual, which marks the debut of Kireeti Reddy as a leading man, will be in theatres on July 18, 2025. Kireeti is paired with Sreeleela in the film, who returns to Kannada cinema after 2022’s ByTwoLove. The actress plays Kireeti’s love interest in the film that she says she took up because of its “beautiful, emotional story”. While Sreeleela has said that her role isn’t extraordinary, what has caught the attention of audiences is the hit number Viral Vayyari from the film.

The makers had only released a lyrical video of the Devi Sri Prasad composition, with a few fleeting glimpses of the song’s hook step, among others, but that’s been enough for the song to go viral. Sreeleela, of course, is an amazing dancer and Kireeti too is quite nimble-footed, if these visuals are anything to go by. A few days after the song came out, though, came a behind-the-scenes video from the making of the viral hit number, in which Sreeleela could be seen not at ease and struggling to maintain balance while perched on Kireeti’s thighs.

Sreeleela: It was not an easy step and...

Soon enough, there were comments galore on social media that the young actress was uncomfortable doing certain steps in this song, given that Kireeti had to hold her tight around her midriff, while she tried to balance herself. In an interview with TV9, Sreeleela addressed this BTS video, saying, “It was not an easy step at all and I kept slipping. I was also trying to figure out how to aesthetically do it in a way that audiences like it. In that process, I got quite frustrated that it was not happening the way I’d envisioned. That stress was showing on my face. I was not uncomfortable.”

In the film, Sreeleela plays a college girl, a role that she says was not all that challenging. Directed by Radhakrishna Reddy, who’d done the Kannada film Mayabazar 2016 earlier, Junior also stars V Ravichandran, Sudharani, Kuri Pratap, Rao Ramesh, Achyuth Kumar, Kiran Sreenivas, among others.
