Since introducing the Prime store, which allows subscribers and non-subscribers to rent international and regional movies and shows, the streaming giant has brought several popular titles under this umbrella. Indian audiences took note of this in late May this year, when Amazon Prime Video brought the Yash-starrer KGF: Chapter 2 to audiences, albeit at a premium. Subscribers, of course, were incensed at having to shell out extra to watch the record-breaking blockbuster. In the time since, several other titles have come to the streamer, but on rental only.
One such is Jurassic World Dominion, the epic conclusion in the Jurassic World saga, which released in theatres in early June this year. Starring Chris Pratt, Jeff Goldblum, Bryce Dallas Howard, Laura Dern and Sam Neill, among many others, the story of Jurassic World Dominion takes place four years after the destruction of Isla Nublar, in a world where dinosaurs and humans ‘co-exist’, while still trying to determine who truly is the apex predator.
By mid-August, the film was made available as video-on-demand on Prime Video at a payment of Rs 149 only. And now, we hear that the platform has set a date for when it will make the film available for free to all subscribers. According to the latest, Jurassic World Dominion will begin streaming in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam from October 17.
Jurassic World Dominion is the sixth film in the series based on Michael Crichton’s Jurassic Park novel. Begun by Steven Spielberg in 1993 with the first Jurassic Park film, which was followed by Jurassic Park 2, 3, Jurassic World, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and then, Jurassic World Dominion, the films have pretty much followed the same formula as a man vs animal conflict that is a direct fall out of human error. The conclusion brings together the stars of the original three films – Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum and Laura Dern.
