K-drama star Kim Seon-ho reveals he had ‘cringeworthy’ moments while watching himself in his film The Childe

South Korean actor Kim Seon-ho has come a long way since starting his career with plays before making his small screen debut in 2017 with Good Manager. He gained popularity with the K-dramas Start-Up (2020) and even more so as the male protagonist in Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha (2021). So much so that he was selected as Gallup Korea's Television Actor of the Year.

Seon-ho has taken the next step in his career with his film debut in director Park Hoon-jung's upcoming South Korean action noir film The Chide. The film is set to release in theatres in Korea later this month.

Seon-ho plays Nobleman (Gwigongja), a professional serial killer, in the film. To convincingly look the part, the actor went through quite a transformation, looking nothing like the boy next door from Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha. And his fans haven't been able to stop gushing over his new look.

But Seon-ho isn't impressed. In a recent interview, the actor said that he felt quite uneasy while watching himself in the movie because he started to notice even the tiniest of mistakes in his performance. 

"Since it was my first time seeing myself on the big screen, I became self-conscious and began scrutinising my every flaw," Seon-ho said in the interview.

And it is not just about self-scrutinising. Seon-ho added that he had some "cringeworthy" moments while watching the film, especially in the portions when he spoke English. The actor said, "My English accent was so cringeworthy that I nearly leaped out of my seat."
