Kaala will have its world premiere on September 15 on Disney+ Hotstar.
Trailer
Kaala is a crime adventure series that deals with the issue of reverse hawala, a kind of transaction where the money is sent back to the original sender usually through a different broker. Set against a peppy and thrilling background score, the trailer showcases a team of intelligence officers as they gather evidence against Naman, who is involved in illegal financial dealings.
Plot
Ritwik, an intelligence officer, is on a mission to stop illegal transfer of black money flowing out of India involving a big businessman named Naman Arya. In the process, he puts his life and profession at stake by finding himself being labeled as a criminal. How he makes his way through such action, adventure and crime forms the storyline of the series.
Bejoy cited his fascination with the genre which culminated in the creation of Kaala. “Our journey began with extensive research, peeling back layers to reveal the intricate dance between power, intrigue, and the allure of wealth and their power play in the lives of people who have gone through difficult trauma,” the filmmaker said in a statement earlier.
Cast
The series sheds light on the criminal activities and illegal transactions taking place in the country. “With Kaala, the team has taken a deep dive into the “heart of the underbelly of the crime while also exploring the darkness in human souls,” said Bejoy.
The show features an ensemble cast that includes Avinash, Rohan Vinod Mehra, Nivetha Pethuraj, Taher Shabbir and Hiten Tejwani. It is co-produced by Bejoy and T-Series' Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar.
