Many would know Vikky Varun for his starring role in Duniya Suri's Kendasampige but not many are aware of the fact that he forayed into the world of cinema to become a film director. Having assisted his idols Yogaraj Bhat and Suri in the past on films like Paramathma, Jackie, Anna Bond and Kaddipudi, Vikky Varun (born Santhosh Kumar R) is all set to make his directorial debut with Kaalapatthar in which he also stars in the lead role alongside Dhanya Ramkumar.
While the core plot of Kaalapatthar remains under wraps, Vikky Varun has revealed in his recent discussions with the media that his film unfolds in not any single location but multiple ones, including Karnataka, Rajasthan and Kashmir. The makers recently released a special track named 'Sounds of Kaalapatthar' to showcase the musical vibrance of the film and in the same vein, now comes the first single from the album.
Titled Gorukana Gaana, the song is best described as a fusion of electronica and folk with J Anoop Seelin composing it and Shivani Naveen lending her unique vocals. V. Nagendra Prasad's lyrics, too, are one of the highlights of the song. The visuals of the song also reveal Dhanya Ramkumar's character and confirm that she will play an unconventional role in the film.
In the same interviews, Vikky Varun shared that Kaalapatthar is based on a fictional story and that it will boast distinctive settings and circumstances. Although the title resembles the iconic Amitabh Bachchan 1979 film, Vikky Varun confirms that his film has nothing to do with it.
