Kaantha OTT release: Dulquer Salmaan film makes only 11% of Lokah’s collection at box office; Mammootty’s Kalamkaval overtakes its lifetime earnings in 3 days

Kaantha, the recently released Tamil film headlined by actor Dulquer Salmaan, is set to stream very soon on OTT. Netflix, which has bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights of the film, will be streaming the film on Friday, December 12. During its theatrical run, the film has managed to make Rs 35 crore worldwide.

Kaantha OTT release: How much did Dulquer Salmaan film make?

The 2025 Tamil film Kaantha, which stars Dulquer Salmaan and Bhagyashri Borse in the lead roles, is set to stream on Netflix from December 12. The period drama is written and directed by Selvamani Selvaraj. Ahead of its OTT debut, here is how much Kaantha made in theatres.

As per Sacnilk, the total box office collection of Kaantha is Rs 35 crore. The film had made close to Rs 27 crore in India, with the rest Rs 8 crore coming from overseas. It is to be noted that Dulquer and Rana Daggubati had jointly produced Kaantha, and the film has made only 11% of Dulquer’s previous production; Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra which boasts Rs 303 crore worldwide, as per Sacnilk. Also, as per the same platform, Dulquer's father and actor Mammootty's latest film Kalamkaval has already surpassed Kaantha's lifetime collection with total amounting to Rs 38 crore.

As the duo faces an ego clash, the sets of their film face turbulence. The plot gets murkier when the lead heroine of their film is found murdered, prompting for a probe to take place. The film also stars Samuthirakani, Ravindra Vijay, Vayapuri, Gayathrie Shankar, Nizhalgal Ravi and others. Kaantha had opened to decent reviews and some criticism for its genre shift.
