Kaatera press meet cancelled; Online tussle between Darshan’s wife and alleged partner to blame?

-The team of Kaatera had called for a press conference to celebrate the film’s 25-day run at the box office on Thursday morning, but with only hours to go, it was cancelled. The buzz on social media is that it had to be called off following on online tussle between leading man Darshan Thoogudeepa’s wife, Vijayalakshmi Darshan and his alleged current partner, Pavitra Gowda.

Pavitra had taken to social media with a post featuring multiple pictures of her with Darshan, writing alongside, “One decade down; forever to go.♥️♥️ #10year It’s been 10years of our relationship Thank you ✨✨ @darshanthoogudeepashrinivas.” This, of course, has infuriated the Challenging Star’s wife, Vijayalakshmi Darshan, who responded with a long post to “raise her voice in the best interest of her family”.

In her note, Vijayalakshmi stated that Pavitra’s daughter Kushi was born to the latter’s ex-husband Sanjay Singh. She also said that she will take legal action against people who are trying to spin a different narrative in society. There are rumours doing the rounds surrounding Kushi’s biological parents.

This is not the first time that Darshan’s dalliances have made headlines. Back in 2011, the actor was linked with a co-star, who was eventually named in a complaint filed by Vijayalakshmi when Darshan physically assaulted her. Following the police complaint, Darshan spent a month behind bars, until his wife withdrew the complaint. The couple’s relationship has, allegedly, remained strained since, although Vijayalakshmi’s social media posts paint a rosy picture.

By 2015, rumours of his alleged relationship with Pavitra began emerging and a few times that she had put posts on social media, she had removed them following public backlash. While still officially married to each other, Darshan and Vijayalakshmi allegedly do not live together. The couple has a son, Vinish.

The new year has not exactly gotten off to a good start for the Challenging Star, despite the success of his last film release. First, he was named in a complaint about late night partying after a Kaatera special show, which led to the cancellation of a restobar’s license, and now this.
