Even two decades after its release, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (K3G) still finds a place as one of the most beloved Bollywood works of all time. The film marked Karan Johar’s second stint in the director’s chair, and the filmmaker seems to have a lot of fond things to look back on.

In a newly released BTS clip, the director is seen reminiscing about the delightful connection Shah Rukh Khan and Jaya Bachchan shared on the sets of the film.

The film was produced by Dharma Productions, who shared the unseen BTS footage on their official social media handles. In the clip, Johar talks about how Bachchan used to approach him and talk about how ‘bad’ she felt for Khan, who was apparently going through a ‘rough patch’ at the time. In the film, Bachchan and Khan played mother and son.

The actress told Johar about how ‘maternal’ she felt towards Khan. The filmmaker recalled a scene in the film where Bachchan runs her hand over Khan’s photograph and gets emotional. The filmmaker revealed that those were real tears and her performance was ‘all heart’. “ There’s one hundred percent feeling in that shot”, added Johar.
